Google Drive and Apps
This was our second meeting as a faculty.  We divided up our group to better meet your needs.  Mr. Williams discussed more in depth g-mail and Google docs. I on the other hand took the more advanced group and we learned about using Google Drive and a few of the Google apps on your Ipad.  I also shared with you a few tricks I learned this summer at the ISTE Conference.

Google Apps

  • Google Drive- is a file storage and synchronization service created and managed by Google. It allows users to store documents in the cloud, share files, and edit documents with collaborators.
  • Google Doc, Sheets and Slides- Google's version of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Points. This link will give you more in depth information about each one. Google Apps
  • Google+- Google's Facebook
  • Google Calendar- this is a great tutorial on using the Calendar and syncing with others. Google Calendar video

Hidden Apps from Apple already on your I Pad!

The first App is ibooks.  I books is an e-book applications.  You can download books from the itunes store or download PDF files from other locations. I want to look at the options you have within the itunes store.  From you I pad or I phone open the I books app.  At the bottom of the screen you will see a star with the words featured.  Click Featured and then choose education.  A little ways down you will see Learning Resources.  If you slide over on that line you will come across two hidden gems!!!

Common Core Text Exemplars and One Best Thing! Common Core Text Exemplars is a collection of the Exemplar Text required for Common Core.  Some of the text are free and some you do have to pay.  The other is One Best Thing, This is a series of e-books designed by Apple Distinguished Educators.  Each guide highlights a specific use of Apple products, apps, and other content to transform teaching and learning.

The second App is iTunes U. Itunes U is the best way to create and experience courses on your iPad. The iTunes U app gives you access to complete courses from leading universities and other schools — plus the world's largest digital catalog of free education content — right on your iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch. Again if you open the app and in the top left corner click catalog. Then you can let the searching begin.
